our rescue story

I spotted Chocolate on Petfinder and fell in love with her picture immediately. Friends of Rocky Mount Animals brought her all the way up to me from North Carolina. We have no idea where she came from - when I got her she didn't even know how to play! She would just look at you and the toy. She didn't know any commands, etither. And she was so depressed...she used to just hang her head and stare at the ground. Now, two years later, she's a pretty happy dog! She loves to play with her hedgehog toys (and has been known to completely disembowel a few!) and loves going for walks to look for and chase rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks! And she now knows the basics: 'sit', 'down', 'paw' - even 'say hi'! ('stay' is a work in progress, ha ha) We had her breed tested, and she's part Chow Chow (which we knew from her funny purple spotted tongue) and to our surprise, Cocker Spaniel. She's getting older and definitely slowing down now, but I'm glad she gets to spend her senior years with me. We're both lucky girls.
