Story from a Rescued Great Dane

Ghost here; I lived with you, after I was rescued from the tomato fields. I am gorgeous now; not a blemish. The thicker my fur grows; the more Harlequin spots I get.
No more horrific medicine. I don't take flight, when someone comes near. I come when the porch light blinks on and off, as it means something good is about to go down.
No more stealing chickens, or hunting lizards and cockroaches. I eat "from the store food". So, I'm always giving "smuggles".
I hear dogs barking and other noises a tiny bit now. I recognize some sounds, so they do not scare me. My sight is not good; up close I cannot see the bones offered to me. I bang my head when I get excited. I know where everything is and I get around well. I prance, ghost moves are out!
I stroll the yard every morning; to see if anything has changed that requires my endorsement.
I like TV; I can see dogs! If Dad is not looking I sit in his chair to take in the best shows.
My BFF is a Neapolitan Mastiff; she took care of me while I was so pathetic. She trained me to play with toys, and showed me games.
I have become intelligent from reading. I pull books off the shelves and when done, I chew them up to retain the knowledge. My Mom makes faces, so I am rethinking the chewing part. We have room for another rescue, but Mom thinks we are too spoiled. (I think being spoiled is a good thing.) Plus she has only so many books she wants to donate.
Paws up, to everyone at the Animal Hospital; you saved me, so I could live with my best Mom and Dad.
