Chloe

Chloe

Chloe was found by our local animal rescue personnel tied to a truck in the country. She had scraped the hair off her back and was covered in grease. I had adopted a Yorkie mix from them a few months earlier, and thought she could use some company since I work all day. So I offered to foster a small dog that was waiting for a home. As soon as they pulled up to my house with Chloe, I knew she was home forever! She is a cheerful, happy little companion and I've kissed her face at least a thousand times! Both of "my girls" think the foot of my bed was created just for them, and they spend countless hours playing together. I am grateful to all of the loving, caring individuals that help save these wonderful animals! Thank you SO much!!

Patience Is A Virtue

Patience Is A Virtue

I have had quite a few animals in my lifetime. But Patience, who we took in when I was 14 years old, was my brightest blessing. Patience was the most beautiful cat, both inside and out. She was the most dominant huntress, yet she was the most loving cat when she was with me. She saw me through some of my bleakest times. There were times that Patience was my only friend in the world. Patience gave me all the love and friendship that a girl could need. And then she gave the same to my daughter, Mia, who's crib she slept in every single night! Patience was the best in every single way.
About 6 months ago, Patience went blind. This was caused by kidney failure. I tried so hard to help her fight, but her quality of life had decreased so much. I knew it wasn't fair, she never got off the bed, she was disoriented all the time. My heart was broken when she went to heaven on March 30, 2009.

Patience will forever live on inside of my heart. We have made a rock garden around where Patience is buried, and it is so beautiful and such a wonderful way to help her beauty live on. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her, or think I see her inside my home. She was the best friend I have ever had. She showed me love at a time when I didn't believe there was such a thing.

Patience was my Angel. She will always be loved, always be missed, and she will never be forgotten.

Drooley Dooley

Drooley Dooley

We got Dooley from our local Humane Society. Though deemed healthy, he knew he was very ill. He had the canine flu and was miserably underweight. We were thankful that he recovered quickly. His broken tail is one of the signs of his previous abuse, but he is slowly trusting us and seems very happy in his new, forever home.

White Deaf Cat

White Deaf Cat

"Luci", an absolutely beautiful young white cat with no ID tag, showed up at our door 5:30 a.m. a little over 2 years ago. She was very vocal and frantic to come inside. I, however, had 2 chihuahuas and a spitz inside, so I opened the door to go outside mysef and check her out when she pounced through the door, jumped on the couch and curled up between the 2 chihuahuas. The vet determined she is totally deaf, has had her front claws removed, had already been spayed, and most definitely was someone's beloved pet. After placing huge signs all over the neighborhood, no one came to claim her. She "adopted" us, and, needless to say, she has made herself right at home, she loves and plays with the dogs, makes us laugh, is a total source of love and prickly licks, and has become a permanent member of our family.

My Tubby Tuxedo

My Tubby Tuxedo

Kamir Jackson was found out in the country where he had been dropped off. He was so fat, he couldn't climb the steps. We both transplanted to Oklahoma and now he's a seasoned traveler. Every morning I awake with him in my arms. I call him my cuddle cat. He is the most lovable animal I've ever had. He is a friend to everyone and every animal that comes to visit.

Miracle

Miracle

Somebody found this adorable thing left behind a dumpster he was about 4days old, soaking wet, eyes sealed shut with the umbilical cord still attached. His fate was grim, i was told not to get attached, but when i held him close I couldn't help but whisper in his ear "I love you, please get better so you can come live with me" . I'm happy to say it worked and that he is now doing beyond fabulous and he makes us all laugh with his antics. He plays tag with my 3 yr old, and and he gives his new siblings (a boy & 2girl cats) a run for their money haha. He makes a wonderful addition to our family. One would say he was lucky to have us, i say we are lucky to have him!

The Best Present

The Best Present

Sassy was a Christmas present to my boyfriend. We chose her out of all the other great dogs at the Animal Rescue League. Really she's a gift to me because of all the love she gives. She was returned twice to the shelter by her previous owners, but I promised her she'll never go back again.

sweet suki

On June 10 2009 I heard this faint sound coming from out side where I work thinking it was a child I paid no mind to it. Upon hearing the sound I made an effort to look outside. there on the sidewalk was this soaking wet scared little kitten, she was flea infested and nothing but skin and bones you could actually feel every bone in her little body. My heart sank into the pit of my stomach this poor defensless animal was just left there on the sidewalk like trash. I picked her up and took her home, bathed and fed her. She adores my older adult male cat he acts like a papa to her cleaning her and he lets her snuggle with him when he sleeps. she weighed 1/4 of a pound then and now just a week having her she now weighs 1 1/4 pounds. She is ball of furry energy and I think she knows she is loved she is the sweetest little girl and I am glad she is MINE!

William Wallace

William Wallace

I had been volunteering at a Dog Rescue in the Southern Tier with no other intention than to help in cleaning up, feeding and walking the dogs. "Willie" was a 6 month old English Springer Spaniel rescued from an Amish puppy mill in PA. The owner of the puppy mill contacted the Rescue's owner and said that he was the only one that didn't sell and that she needed to come and get him or he would be killed. He had been left tied up in a barn. When I first saw him at the rescue, he was facing straight ahead but staring at me out of the corner of his eye. I decided to take him for a walk which he had never done and then decided to take him home to meet the family. I promised the Rescue that I would return him in an hour. I did return but left him in my truck and went in and filled out all of the papers. He is now 3 and lives with his bro Jake, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and Big Al, our fat cat. He is now living the life he should and is the goofiest guy ever. Not only did we rescue him, he rescued all of us. Always adopt, words cannot describe the gratification.
