Ginger, on the left, and Fred on the right, were adopted separately from the same animal shelter. Don't they even look alike? They love to play with each other and cuddle on the couch. We love them dearly and our family is much more complete with them in our lives.

My Girl

My Girl

Brandi, a Rhodisian Ridgeback boxer mix came into my life when she was only a year old, she is now 7 years old and is very happy and very spoiled.
Brandi was rescued from a very abusive situation by a friend of mine, and was given to me at a time when I needed her as much as she needed me.
Brandi had been living with me for a year, when a man broke into my home at 3 o'clock in the morning, and thanks to her I was not hurt and the man was caught by the police, and after it was all over, one of the officers looked over at me sitting there with Brandi and said " thats one heck of a good friend you have there." So not only did I rescue her, but she also rescued me.

Hurricane Katrina Rescue

Hurricane Katrina Rescue

Murphy was a Hurricane Katrina rescue. We've had him for 3 1/2 years. He is a very loveable, friendly dog. He had many cuts on his face and he was heartworm positive for 6 months. After much TLC he is now a beautiful boy, with a very gentle heart.

Rescued from Mean Streets of Mexico

Cejas (means eyebrows) was in bad shape when rescued by MiracleDogRescue. He had mange, wires through his front paws, and broken teeth. It took them 3 months to fix him up perfectly. His rescuer drove 2 hours to see if our place was the right one for the little fella. We adore him and take him everywhere from mountains to beaches. He has a great personality and is full of love. Thank you PetFinders and MiracleDogRescue.

A Cat Named Jeff

A Cat Named Jeff

My husband and I were in college and since he lived in an apartment, I told him he should get a cat. He said he didn't like cats but found himself at the local shelter anyway. It was love at first sight when he saw a beautiful 4 month old tortoise shell cat named Jeff sitting in his cage. The two of them were instant buddies and Jeffy has been a wonderful companion over the last 10 years. He is truly one of the sweetest, most affectionate cats I have ever known. He now has to share our affection with another cat and 2 dogs, but as our first pet, he will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Blue, Our Blue Heeler Mix from the Bluegrass State

Blue, Our Blue Heeler Mix from the Bluegrass State

We were visiting my husband's cousin in Kentucky one Thanksgiving and a Blue Heeler stray had recently decided that under his house was the perfect place to have her puppies. One of the smaller puppies stood out, with her outgoing personality, friendly brown eyes and sweet puppy kisses. When it was time to head back to Florida, we just couldn't leave this special girl behind. She has turned out to be a wonderful dog; smart, obedient and loving.

He found a girlfriend and a home

He found a girlfriend and a home

Spike found us when he followed a chow named Sally that did not belong to us,back to our house. We had been feeding the chow since she liked our place better than her owners. When we found that Spike was not wanted,he became another member of our family of others rejects. We love others unwanted animals!

Adult Cat Rescue

Adult Cat Rescue

My Family decided it was time for a new member by accident. We had seen a cat we fell in love with in a store ran by the humane association in our local mall. When we came back to get him he was pending adopted so we waited to see if it went through and the next morning he was adopted. So, we decided to take a trip to another humane association and we found Mr. Pinky laying very still in his cage and looking so sad. He is 5 years old and declawed. We already had a female named Phoebe who was abandoned in a garage when she was 2 weeks old. She is also 5 years old and declawed so we new Mr. Pinky would be a great fit for our family. We took him to the getting acquainted room and he took to us right away. We brought him home that same day and it was like he knew this was home. I told my husband that there was a reason we didn't get to adopt the other cat and now we know why. Mr. Pinky has been the best addition to our family since the arrival of our son.

From Orphan to calendar girl

From Orphan to calendar girl

I adopted Zoe from the humane society with a herpe eye infection that scarred her left eye before healing. She was taken to the shelter by a person who found her thrown into a street gutter. Zoe is a spirited, loving handful who is now blessed to be helping other animals. We were honored the Keri Chase Foundation of Thunder Bay, Canada chose her to be their November 2009 feature photo in their animal fundraising calendar.

Adopted by a kitten

Adopted by a kitten

As soon as we moved in with Kitty, Fafner and Fasolt, a calico kitten appeared on the back steps and wouldn't leave. By the time the frost was on the pumpkin, Pumpkin had wheedled her way indoors to be with the other 3 cats. In the spring, when she matured and went into heat, she sat at the door calling for rrrRaoul - who came indoors (and both of them got fixed) when he appeared on the steps with a wounded face. The years passed, the other cats died, and Pumpkin was lonely - so we brought Mac home to keep her company. Pumpkin finally died at the age of 19 1/2... we miss her, but life goes on: Mac now has a new friend.
